Approximately 9% of the global population lives in extreme poverty, meaning they survive on less than $2.15/day ( Poverty Overview: Development news, research, data | World Bank ) . In Sierra Leone, over 80% of the country's population are in that category. As a result, the predominant priority (and sometimes the only priority) of a vast majority, is to ensure they have food to eat from one day to the next. Everything else is viewed either as idealistic or a luxury. At Serving Sierra Leone (dba of Cita International Inc.), we aim to challenge the status quo by providing access to opportunity that is free or affordable so that in impacting one life at a time, we can elevate the humanity of many.
